History

MWT was formed as a specialist traffic engineering and transport planning consultancy in February 1994, with the aim of providing high level advice to government and the private sector. MWT achieved significant recognition and attracted a wide range of clients from all levels of government, infrastructure authorities and the private sector. 

In September 2008, MWT joined forces with Halcrow, one of the world’s leading planning, design and management consultants. Halcrow offers transport planning services throughout the world with over 300 transport specialists in the UK plus strong offices in North America, Asia and in the Middle East.

Halcrow’s Australian transport specialists combined with MWT’s staff to become one of the leading providers of transport planning services in the country. Our services and capacity to deliver have been greatly enhanced. In particular we now offer pedestrian modelling, multimodal modelling and transport economics in addition to the traffic engineering and road network modelling services that we have traditionally offered.

The Australian Transport practice is known as Halcrow MWT and operates within the wider umbrella of Halcrow Pacific Pty Limited. Halcrow in Australia operates out of offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and works with clients throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.

All of MWT’s staff have transferred to the combined practice and will continue to offer the same personal service that they have traditionally provided.

As well having a strong reputation in transport planning, Halcrow also works more widely in the transportation sector, as well as in water, maritime and property. The company was founded in the UK in 1868 and has developed into an 8,000-strong business with operations around the world.
