Strategic alliances have greatly enhanced this process and have helped MWT produce results well above client expectations and beyond the normal limitations of the software.
For example, MWT’s strategic and microsimulation modelling for the M5 East Motorway interface with the tunnel beneath the runway at Sydney’s Kingsford-Smith International Airport revealed a potentially serious weaving and merging problem. MWT developed and modelled a tidal flow solution which, when commissioned with the opening of the motorway, worked perfectly in ensuring smooth traffic flow. Such first time success is rare for a complex traffic situation and was validated further when operators trialled traffic flow without tidal flow and experienced immediate congestion.
